Selank Spray: How It’s Made and What a Good Lab Report Shows

A measured number beats a claim on a product page. A spray is peptide in liquid, and you can’t see what’s in liquid.

This guide covers how a Selank spray is made, which tests prove what’s inside, and what one real lab report shows. It also lists what that report leaves out.

What is a Selank spray?

A Selank spray is Selank peptide dissolved in liquid and filled into a nasal pump bottle.

In Russia, the registered version is 0.15% nasal drops from Peptogen, sold without a prescription.¹ Everywhere else, sprays are sold as research chemicals. As of October 2026, the FDA has approved no Selank drug, and it lists Selank only as a substance nominated for compounding and then withdrawn.² Our Selank evidence page covers what the trials found.

A ready-made spray isn’t the same product as the freeze-dried powder vials most vendors sell. The liquid is where quality is won or lost.

How is a Selank spray made?

Makers follow the same broad path. What changes is how carefully they follow it.

1. They build the peptide one amino acid at a time. Selank has seven.
2. They purify it. Chromatography separates Selank from failed sequences and leftovers.
3. They freeze-dry it into a stable powder.
4. They dissolve it in sterile liquid. The registered Russian drops hold the peptide, purified water and a preservative.¹
5. They filter the liquid and fill the pump bottle.
6. They test the finished liquid.

Step 6 is where a listing can go quiet. A certificate for the powder doesn’t describe the liquid. The Russian label shows why it matters: it sets cold storage at 2 to 8 °C, away from light.¹

That’s how makers work. It isn’t a recipe, and this page won’t give one.

What should a Selank spray’s lab report show?

Seven checks. Each answers a question you’d want answered before you pay. Here’s how Platinum’s report scores.

Platinum’s report shows the first five. It says nothing on the last two. It also names Platinum as the vendor of the sample, so it isn’t a test of a bottle bought at retail. We didn’t buy and test one either.

Text or email Platinum before you order and ask for sterility and preservative data on your lot. Until you have it, those two checks stay open.

Measured content ran 9% above the label. A report that skips content can’t tell you whether the bottle holds what it says, so compare that number on any spray you consider.

How do you read the mass spec on the report?

Mass spec weighs molecules. Selank weighs 751.43 Da, and the machine sees it as charged ions, so the peaks land in predictable spots. The labeled peaks on Platinum’s spectrum are 251.6, 376.8, 752.4 and 774.6.

• 752.4 is Selank plus one proton. It is the main peak to look for.
• 376.8 is Selank with two protons, which the machine reads as half the mass.
• 251.6 is Selank with three protons, read as a third.
• 774.6 is Selank plus one sodium.

All four land within 0.2 of where the math puts them. A different molecule would show different peaks. N-acetyl Selank amidate, for example, would put its main peak near 793.5. A matching mass supports identity but doesn’t alone prove the sequence.

Watch-outs

• The report covers one lot, 80-202606-73. Ask for the report on the lot you get.
• The page says “Houston, TX compounded” in its fine print. Compounding is a pharmacy term. As of 25 October 2026, the FDA’s page on bulk substances that may present significant safety risks lists Selank acetate only as nominated for compounding and then withdrawn, and says it “lacks important information” on safety in humans.² Ask Platinum what the word means.
• Opened bottles can’t be returned, so settle your questions about the lot before you order.
• Platinum’s product text says Selank has no addiction risk. A 2021 review called Selank “poorly studied” and asked for abuse-potential testing. PubMed lists none.⁶

What should you ignore on a Selank spray page?

• “No addiction risk” or “works like a benzo without side effects.” Our October 2026 PubMed search found no study that tests either claim. Our evidence page shows what the trials can and can’t say.
• “99%+ purity” with no lot number or lab name.
• “Third-party tested” with no report you can open.
• A spray sold as N-acetyl Selank or NA-Selank at Selank prices. It’s a different molecule, about 792 Da instead of 751, and our September 2026 PubMed search found no study of it. See our Semax vs Selank page.
• Pages built like instruction sheets. In August 2026 the FDA warned five sellers that what they bundled and published on their sites showed their products were meant for people.⁷

Is Selank spray legal? What about safety?

As of October 2026, Selank isn’t FDA approved. It’s a registered medicine in Russia.^1,2

“Research use only” on a label doesn’t make a product lawful for human use. Our evidence page covers the science: three small Russian trials of 60 to 70 patients with no placebo group (grade: human small study),⁸ and an FDA page that says it lacks safety information on humans.²

Cancer risk and long-term safety are open questions. Our October 2026 PubMed search found no study of Selank and cancer risk, and the only course length the trial abstracts state is 14 days.⁹

These readers should not use Selank products:

• anyone under 18
• anyone pregnant or breastfeeding (the Russian label says not to use it)
• anyone allergic to the drug or to any ingredient in a spray (the Russian drops contain methylparaben)
• anyone taking a benzodiazepine or another sedative (a prescriber should make that call)
• tested athletes (check your sport’s anti-doping rules first)
