Is American Peptides legit? It’s a real Louisiana company with a real owner. But its lab paperwork doesn’t hold up, and Eli Lilly sued it on 8 October 2026.
It scores 3.6/10 on everything we could check without buying.
On 12 October 2026 we checked all 114 certificates in its COA library against the lab’s own server. We also pulled state records, the federal court docket and every review we could find. We haven’t bought or tested a vial yet, so this review is about documents and claims. It doesn’t prove what’s inside the vials.
Quick verdict: American Peptides (americanpeptides.us)

- A named owner and a registered company you can look up
- A public library of 114 lot-matched certificates, all hosted by the issuing lab
- Some Reddit buyers received their orders, one within 3 to 4 days
Cons
- The Tirzepatide 100 mg certificate shows a chart labelled “Retatrutide”
- The lab’s copies of 66 certificates carry later dates than the vendor’s own copies
- The site’s main quality claims don’t match its own documents
- A federal lawsuit from Eli Lilly over retatrutide sales
Which “American Peptides” is this?
This review covers americanpeptides.us, run from Shreveport, Louisiana.
It has nothing to do with the American Peptide Company of Sunnyvale, California. That company was a real peptide maker, and Bachem bought it in 2015.
Watch for these too:
| Domain | What it is |
|---|---|
| americanpeptides.us | This review |
| americanpeptides.com | The same owner’s wholesale arm (“Launch your own peptide brand”) |
| americanpeptides.live | Registered July 2026; now a generic store; URLert calls it “potentially malicious” |
| americanpeptidesus.com | Registered 25 Sep 2026; WordPress store using the same name; owner unknown |
| synexbiolabs.com | Copies American Peptides’ claims word for word on a theme named “americanpeptides” |
The wholesale arm matters. It sells American Peptides stock to other brands, so the same vials can show up under a different name.
Who runs American Peptides?
The Louisiana Secretary of State lists American Peptides LLC, charter 47172934K. Its manager is Ronald Kilgarlin. The address is 9742 Saint Vincent Ave, Shreveport, LA 71106.
Ron Kilgarlin founded American Screening, a drug-test kit company in the same building. The domain record names him too.
The timeline is the odd part:
- 21 Feb 2026: domain registered
- 30 Mar 2026: store already selling, and “Trusted by 5000+ Research Facilities”
- April 2026: terms of service name no company, use Wyoming law and accept Cash App only
- 20 Aug 2026: the Louisiana LLC is registered
So the Louisiana company was registered about six months after the store started selling. And “5000+ research facilities” five weeks after the domain went live isn’t a number you should take seriously.
American Peptides COAs: we checked all 114
Here’s what we did:
- Downloaded all 121 certificate links on the COA page. They point to 114 different PDFs for 51 products.
- Downloaded the same certificate code from the lab’s server, bioviridians.com
- Compared the files, read every page and compared the charts pixel by pixel
All 114 exist on the lab’s server. That’s the good news. The problems start when you open them.
Two certificates show another sample’s chart
A purity number is only as good as the chromatogram behind it. That chart has to come from the sample in the vial.
The Tirzepatide 100 mg certificate (COA5634, lot TIR100-0616) fails that test. The vial photo says tirzepatide. The mass spectrum says tirzepatide. But the HPLC chart header reads “QC263132 Retatrutide”.
QC263132 is the Retatrutide 48 mg sample from a different certificate, COA5633. The two charts are identical down to the pixel. So the 99.9% purity printed for tirzepatide sits on top of a retatrutide chart.

The TB-500 10 mg certificate (COA3404) has the same problem. Its chart is the BPC-157 5 mg chart from COA3402, same instrument run, same injection number. The TB-500 certificate even types a retention time of 5.767 minutes while the peak label inside its own chart reads 5.967.
BPC-157 and TB-500 are different molecules. One weighs about 1,419 daltons, the other about 4,963. They don’t produce the same chart.

Charts from different samples differed by 7 to 12% of pixels in our test. These two pairs differed by zero.
Two versions of the same certificate
Bioviridian’s verification page doesn’t check a database. It checks whether a PDF with that code sits on its server. So we compared the lab’s PDF with the vendor’s PDF for every code.
46 matched byte for byte. Two more differed only in a logo or file format. The other 66 had different content.
- 13 June certificates: the vendor’s copies say “Issued June 25.” The lab’s copies say “Issued July 7” and add a sterility result.
- 53 August certificates: the vendor’s copies say “Issued August 17,” with no sterility row. The lab’s copies say “Issued August 28” and add “Sterility: Not Detected.”
The test numbers didn’t change between versions. The dates, rows and labels did. The lab’s August files were made on 27 and 28 August on a computer whose clock was set to UTC+5:30.

The re-issued copies also brought new mistakes:
| Certificate | Vendor’s copy | Lab’s copy |
|---|---|---|
| COA7580, Retatrutide lot RETA10-0803 | “Retatrutide 10mg” | “Retatrutide 100mg” |
| COA7615, AOD-9604 lot AOD5-0803 | “AOD-9604 5mg” | “AOD-9604 10mg” |
| COA7625, PT-141 10 mg | Lot PT141-0803 | Lot IPA10-0803 (the ipamorelin lot) |
| COA5625, GHK-Cu 50 mg | Lot GHK50-0616 | Lot GHK500-0616 |
| COA5626, KLOW blend | Endotoxin <0.05 EU/mL | Same value labelled “Sterility”; sterility result labelled “Endotoxin” |
| COA7599, Retatrutide 20 mg | “Blue lyophilized powder” | “White lyophilized powder” |
| COA7591, Semaglutide 5 mg | Molecular weight 639.8 (SS-31’s weight) | 4113.7 |
If you “verify” a certificate on the lab’s site, you see a different document from the one the vendor published. Which one is the real record? We can’t tell, and you can’t either.
Smaller errors
- Prostamax (COA3398): the sample is “Prostamax 10mg” on lot PROS20, with 12.82 mg measured. The site sells it as 20 mg.
- BPC-157 5 mg (COA3402): carries lot BP10-0318, the same lot code as the 10 mg vial.
- Glow (COA3384): called “Glow 80mg” on a 70 mg lot.
- Tirzepatide 60 mg (COA4852): lot printed as “TIR600-0528.”
- P-21 lot P21-5-0318: a white powder in March and a “clear liquid” in June. Same lot.
- IGF-1 LR3 (COA7588): the typed retention time, 2.346 minutes, matches the 5-Amino-1MQ certificate. Its own chart peaks at 10.395.
- QR codes: three August certificates link to another vendor’s certificate page. None of the QR codes we could read link to the certificate itself.
Products with no certificate of their own
Thirteen products have no certificate at all. They’re cagrilintide (sold as AP-AMR1), Dihexa, Melanotan-2, eight liquid sprays and two dissolving strips.
Borrowed certificates: the Selank spray and the NA-Semax Amidate spray use the certificates of powder vials. NA-Semax amidate is a different molecule from the plain Semax that was tested. The Melts Pro strips use a vial certificate too.
If you take the numbers at face value
The 114 certificates come from just four testing rounds: late March, 1 June, 19 June and 11 August.
They report purity between 99.55% and 99.90%. Most measured content sits at 94% to 128% of the label, with a median of 103%. The two low outliers come from label mix-ups, Prostamax and ARA-290.
On paper, that’s fine. The problem is the paper.
Bioviridian: the lab behind the certificates
Bioviridian Inc is a real Texas corporation. It was registered in 2021 and lists an address in College Station.
- Accreditation: none yet. Its CEO said on Trustpilot that the lab is “working toward” ISO/IEC 17025.
- Verification: its COA search page checks whether a file exists. There’s no access code and no database behind it.
- Clients: we sampled 52 certificate codes. 46 existed, issued to about 40 different vendors.
Plenty of vendors use small labs, so the lab alone isn’t the story. What we can say is narrower. Bioviridian’s verification can’t settle a dispute about a document, because the lab’s own copies changed.
What American Peptides claims vs what we found
| The site says | What the records show |
|---|---|
| “FDA-registered US Manufacturer” | FDA’s drug establishment register has no record for American Peptides. The only FDA record tied to the owner is his drug-test company’s device relabeler registration. |
| “Synthesized and packaged in GMP-compliant US facilities” | Its own wholesale page says: “Every peptide is synthesized in the same third-party-tested facility we own the relationship with.” No facility or GMP certificate is named. |
| Seven layers of testing on every batch, including 14-day sterility | The vendor’s own copies show sterility on 26 of 114 certificates. The August certificates were issued six days after the samples arrived. |
| “COA on every lot” | 13 products have no certificate, and three borrow one from a different form. |
Retatrutide, code names and the Eli Lilly lawsuit
Eli Lilly filed a federal lawsuit against American Peptides LLC on 8 October 2026. The case is Eli Lilly & Co v. American Peptides L L C, No. 5:26-cv-04146, in the Western District of Louisiana. It was filed in the Shreveport division.
The complaint isn’t public yet. So we don’t know Lilly’s exact claims, and none of them are proven.
Here’s what we do know:
- The site calls AP-RTA-3 its best-seller. Its own product page lists LY3437943 and CAS 2381089-83-2. PubChem lists both as retatrutide, Lilly’s investigational drug.
- It also sells tirzepatide as AP-TRZ-2, semaglutide as AP-SEM-1 and cagrilintide as AP-AMR1.
- It switched to these code names between 6 and 9 October, around the date of the lawsuit. The URLs still say /retatrutide and /tirzepatide.
- In August, Lilly sued six other sellers. It described sellers that “falsely claim their drugs are for ‘research-use only’ when they are actually intended for human use.”
No approved medicine contains retatrutide. FDA treats “research use only” GLP-1 products like these as unapproved drugs.
The site also sells a “Reconstitution Kit.” Its product photo shows an insulin syringe, a vial labelled “for Injection, USP” and alcohol pads. In August the site offered a syringe calculator and sold syringes. Its bacteriostatic water is now called “Reconstitution Solution,” and its nasal sprays became “liquid sprays.” The old URLs still use the old names.
Regulators treat syringes and dosing tools as signs that a product is meant for people. That’s a legal risk for the seller. It’s also a supply risk for you, because products under this kind of pressure can vanish overnight.
American Peptides prices
| Product | American Peptides (12 Oct) | Other vendors on our list (6 Oct) |
|---|---|---|
| BPC-157 5 mg | $60 ($12.00/mg) | Elite Edge $23 ($4.60/mg) · Licensed Peptides $53.99 ($10.80/mg) |
| GHK-Cu 50 mg | $50 ($1.00/mg) | Elite Edge $30 · Amino Club from $29.99 · Platinum $43 · Licensed Peptides $61.99 |
| TB-500 10 mg | $100 ($10.00/mg) | Not compared |
You pay near the top of the market. The paperwork doesn’t justify that premium.
American Peptides reviews: Trustpilot and Reddit
Trustpilot showed 4.1 stars from 54 reviews on 12 October. That number hides two different stories.
| Period | Reviews | What they say |
|---|---|---|
| 18 Aug to 24 Sep | 13 | Average about 2.9 stars; five 1-star reviews |
| 30 Sep to 1 Oct | 36 five-star | 30 from accounts with a single review |
| After 1 Oct | 5 one-star | Non-delivery and no refund |
The complaints repeat. A shipping label gets created, then nothing arrives. One reviewer wrote, “$669 and 3 weeks later, no peptides.” Another said none of the phone numbers work. The company hasn’t replied to any negative review.
Some five-star reviews praise staff by first name or describe wholesale deals. One reviewer says the company told them they’d ordered from a fake site. Lookalike domains do exist, but nothing we found shows they explain the complaints.
On Reddit, some buyers received their orders with lot numbers on the vials, one within 3 to 4 days. Others called the product “rubbish” or “bunk.” One buyer said 2 of 3 vials had lot numbers that didn’t match the posted certificates. We couldn’t verify these accounts.
Be careful with what you find online. Two subreddits, r/AmericanPeptidesLab and r/AmericanPeptidesGuide, are run by affiliates. Most “American Peptides review” sites carry discount codes.
Finnrick, the public peptide testing database, lists zero tests for American Peptides. The “independent tests” on other trackers are the vendor’s own Bioviridian certificates, re-listed.
Why your antivirus flags americanpeptides.us
If Bitdefender showed you “Suspicious web page detected,” you’re not looking at a virus.
Bitdefender lists the whole domain as “spam” and “untrusted.” Its own definition of spam is a domain found in unsolicited emails in the last 90 days. The page it names, /api/stock-flags, is a list of sold-out products the store loads in the background.
Google Safe Browsing and Sucuri found no malware. So the warning is about how the site gets promoted. It isn’t about malicious code.
Red flags checklist
In its favour:
- A named owner, a registered LLC and a real building in Shreveport
- 114 public certificates, all present on the lab’s server
- Some Reddit buyers received orders with lot numbers on the vials
Red flags:
- Two certificates show another sample’s chart
- 66 certificates exist in two versions with different dates and rows
- “FDA-registered US Manufacturer” with no FDA record
- Code-named retatrutide, tirzepatide and semaglutide
- An Eli Lilly lawsuit filed 8 October 2026
- Syringe kits and dosing tools on a “research use only” store
- A five-star review burst after weeks of 1-star complaints
- All sales final, and a chargeback on a delivered order may close your account
American Peptides alternatives
If you’re comparing vendors on paperwork, look for certificates you can check with the lab using an access code. From our best peptide vendors we’ve tested list:
- Amino Club: its ILS Laboratories certificates carry an access code you can enter at ils-lab.com. We verified two of them on 12 October.
- NextGen Peptides: 171 certificates filed by lot, with full ILS panels. Read our NextGen Peptides review.
- Platinum Biolabs: posts purity certificates for about 40 products in a public library, most with endotoxin results.
Whatever you pick, read the certificate for your lot before you open the vial. Our guide on how to verify a peptide COA walks you through it.
Final verdict: is American Peptides legit?
It’s a real business. Its documents aren’t trustworthy proof.
American Peptides has a named owner and a large public certificate library. But two certificates show another sample’s chart. The lab holds a second, re-dated version of 66 certificates. And its biggest claims don’t match the records. Add a federal lawsuit over retatrutide.
We wouldn’t rely on its paperwork. Already bought from it? Match your vial’s lot number to the certificate. Then check that the chart header names the same sample.
What would change the score? An independent lab test of a vial we buy ourselves, or Lilly’s complaint once it’s public.
It’s also listed on our fake peptide vendors list.
FAQ
Is American Peptides legit?
It’s a registered Louisiana company run by Ronald Kilgarlin. But two of its certificates show another sample’s chart, and the lab holds re-dated versions of 66 more. Its “FDA-registered manufacturer” claim has no FDA record behind it. Eli Lilly also sued it on 8 October 2026.
Who owns American Peptides?
Louisiana records list American Peptides LLC, charter 47172934K, with Ronald Kilgarlin as manager. He founded American Screening, a drug-test kit company in the same Shreveport building. The LLC was registered on 20 August 2026, about six months after the store started selling.
Is Eli Lilly suing American Peptides?
Yes. Eli Lilly filed Eli Lilly & Co v. American Peptides L L C, No. 5:26-cv-04146, in the Western District of Louisiana on 8 October 2026. The complaint isn’t public yet, so Lilly’s claims are unknown and unproven.
What is AP-RTA-3?
AP-RTA-3 is American Peptides’ code name for retatrutide. Its product page lists LY3437943 and CAS 2381089-83-2, which PubChem lists as retatrutide. Retatrutide is an investigational Eli Lilly drug, and no approved medicine contains it.
Who tests American Peptides’ products?
Bioviridian Inc of College Station, Texas. Its CEO says the lab is still working toward ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Its online verification only checks whether a PDF exists on its server. And its copies of 66 American Peptides certificates differ from the vendor’s.
Are American Peptides’ Trustpilot reviews real?
Some may be. But 36 of its 40 five-star reviews were posted on 30 September and 1 October 2026. Most came from accounts with a single review. Before that, its 13 reviews averaged about 2.9 stars, with complaints about orders that never arrived.
Why does my antivirus warn me about americanpeptides.us?
Bitdefender lists the domain as spam and untrusted. It defines spam as a domain found in unsolicited emails in the last 90 days. The flagged /api/stock-flags address is a harmless list of sold-out products. Google Safe Browsing and Sucuri found no malware.
Does American Peptides have a discount code?
It offers 20% off a first order, and affiliate codes circulate on subreddits and coupon sites. A discount doesn’t change what the certificates show. Read the certificate for your lot, and check the chart header, before you trust any vial.
